He spent most of his life working in construction. Preceded in death by parents, Alvin and Elizabeth Smelcer. Survived by children, Christy (Joe), Kim, Josh, Amanda, and Alex; four grandchildren; siblings, Doris (Jerry), and Gary; several nephews and a niece. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, November 29, 2010 at 7:00 pm following receiving of friends from 6:00 - 7:00 pm at Valley Grove Baptist, 9000 Sevierville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37920, with Dr. William Sims officiating.
