Irene Nellie Sloan Ray “Irene” age 85 of Maryville went to be with our Lord on Saturday, May 16, 2009. She attended Madison Avenue Baptist Church and worked for over 40 years at Rockford Manufacturing Company. She was preceded in death by her parents, Julie Sloan and Benjamin Long; husband, Thomas John Ray; infant son, Bobby Ray; sisters, Mrs. Camie Ogle and Alice Sloan; brothers, Paul and Cecil Sloan. She is survived by her two children, daughter, Thelma Humphrys of Maryville and son, Johnny Ray and wife, Daryl of Maryville; five grandchildren, Debbie and husband Vernon Steele of Louisville, Johnny Ray, Jr. and wife, Karen of Walland, Ashley Ray, Danyelle Ray and Thomas Ray all of Maryville; two great grandchildren, Morgan and Steven Ray of Walland; nephew, Dole Sloan and wife Carolyn of Walland; special mention, Carlos Hitson. Funeral service will be at 7:30 Tuesday, May 19, 2009 in the Smith West Chapel with Rev. Glenn Cummings officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at East Miller’s Cove Cemetery for the Interment. Family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 983-1000
