He joined his beloved wife, Gladys, his parents, Mack and Belle Sims, and other family and friends in heaven. He was a master carpenter with Blalocks for many years and his craftsmanship can be seen on numerous homes and landmark buildings in Sevier County. He was a lifelong member, teacher, quartet singer and leader at Providence Baptist Church. In addition to his daughter and son-in-law, he is survived by his grandsons, Greg Johnson and his children, Reed, Haley and Micah; Jeff Johnson and wife Deana and their sons, Jonathan and Daniel; and Gary Johnson and wife Alisa and their sons, Dexter and Jamison. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Joy Sims and his sister, Ruth LaFollette. The funeral service will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. W.A. Galyon and Rev. Lowell Wilson officiating. Graveside service and interment will be Friday morning 11:00 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, Sevier County. The family will receive friends 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Atchley Funeral Home in Sevierville.(www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
