Whaley, Myrtle Sims, age 93, passed away on September 12, 2008. She resided at Wellington Place in Sevierville, formerly of Knoxville and Kodak. She was preceded in death by parents, Sherrod and Lennie Sims; husband, Dee Whaley and son, Reford Whaley; brothers, Donald, Turner, Oscar, Jack, Kyle, Ray and Sam Sims. Sisters and brothers-in-law; Gertrude Bales Disney and husbands, Lew Bales and Fred Disney. Ina Grace Carmichael and husband Ralph and Fred Whisenart. Sister-in-law; Nettie Lou Sims. Special friends, Bill Evans and Herman Smith. She was retired from Palm Beach Co. and Shoney’s of Chapman Highway. She was a member of French Broad Valley Baptist Church.
Survivors
Survivors: Sister, Stella Baldwin and husband Howard, Sisters-in-law, Velma Sims and Isabel Hodges. Nieces; Louise Bales Kirby, Shiela Wilson, Laverne Roderick, Evelyn Strange, Carolyn Grandstaff, Marie Stiles, Wanda Ogle, Sandy Ogle, Kim Smith, Beth and Susan Sims. Nephews: Glen Carmichael and Sherrod Sims and a host of friends and relatives. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the Wellington Staff for their care and concern and also to very special caretakers Valarie Casteel and Penny Adams and “special daughter” Sherry Black and staff of Shoney’s on Chapman Highway .
Service
Funeral 1 PM Tuesday Berry Chapel. Rev. Charlie Harkleroad, Rev. Dana Fachman, and Rev. Greg Parton officiating. Interment to follow at Underwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Monday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
