Extine, Charles, of Tipton Station Road, Knoxville, TN, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2010. He was born in Knoxville and resided there most of his life. For many years he owned and operated the Charles Extine Greenhouse and in his younger years worked for The Martin Company of Orlando, FL, an aerospace manufacturer of missile systems. He had a keen ear for music and recreationally became an accomplished guitarist. He was a lifelong member of the Tipton Station Church of Christ and is preceded in death by his parents, Cliff and Florence Extine. Charles is survived by his beloved and long time companion, Dorothy Kanipe, of Knoxville, TN; sisters, Mary McKenna of Ft. Myers, FL and Connie Childress of Knoxville, TN; nieces, Cathy McKenna of St. Louis, MO, Rhonda Gill of Granby, CT and Erica Adams of Knoxville, TN; nephews, Cliff McKenna of East Hampton, CT and Justin Childress of Knoxville, TN; and brothers-in-law, Ron McKenna of Ft. Myers, FL and Ron Childress of Knoxville, TN. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 11, 2010, at Tipton Station Church of Christ. Interment will follow in the Tipton Station Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, September 10, 2010, at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Hwy., Knoxville, TN. Condolences may be offered at www.berryfuneralhome.com.
