HARTLESS, RUSSELL WILLIAM - 84, Knoxville, passed away Sunday, December 6, 1998, at the Veteran Hospital in Johnson City. Mr. Hartless was a member of the DAV chapter 24 in Knoxville, served in the C-Bees unit of the Navy and was known as Silver Nickel 2112 on the Citizen's Band radio network. Russell was preceded in death by his wife, Cleo Boatman Hartless. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Doug and Virl Hartless, Knoxville, Jannacc and J.T. Baker, Knoxville, Betty Jane and Bob Norville, Roanoke, Va., Richard Hartless, Roanoke, Va., Pat Hartless, Roanoke, Va., Johnny and Beulah Boatman, Knoxville; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, at East Tennessee Veteran Cemetery in Knoxville with Rev. Dallas Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, at Rawlings Funeral Home.
