SMSGT Charles “Cat” T. Carnes age 93 of Maryville passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at Asbury Place of Maryville. He was born in 1913 in Sevier County. After serving with the Army, Air Force, Army Reserves and the 119th Air National Guard, Mr. Carnes retired with more than 29 years of service. Preceded in death by: Parents, James L. & Melinda Jane Carnes; brothers and sisters. Survivors include: Wife of 71 years, Anna Lou (Rogers) Carnes; Sons and Daughters-in-law, Lonnie & Helen Carnes and JR and Carol Carnes all of Maryville; Grandchildren, Danny Carnes of Farragut, Randall and David Carnes of Maryville and Cheryl Daugherty of Louisville; Great-Grandchildren, Bethany and Bryce Carnes of Maryville. Military honors will be at 7:00 PM Sunday, September 10, 2006 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 11, 2006 at Ellejoy Cemetery for the interment with Rev. John Davis officiating. Memorial donations may be made to: Blount County Library. Family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:00 PM, Sunday, September 10, 2006, Trinity Chapel, Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 865-983-1000.
