Agnes Swann Newman, 83 of Sevierville, passed away Monday, December 10, 2012 after a courageous eight year battle with cancer. She was an active member of Luretta Methodist Church, where she served as secretary/treasurer for over 50 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Lettie Swann; half brothers and sisters, Bruce, Frank and Anna Rhinehart, Roy, Amos, Sanford and Mary Swann; sister, Edna Swann Wells.
Survivors include her loving and caring husband of 62 years, R.B. Newman; sister-in-law, Helen Price; brother-in-law, Ray Wells; special niece, Karen Kenna and special nephew, Kyle Wells; nieces and nephews. Many thanks to Dr. McCachren and staff of Thompson Cancer Center at Blount Memorial, Covenant Health Care Hospice, and Faye McGinnis for their care of Agnes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Luretta Methodist Church, 4041 Boyd’s Creek Highway, Sevierville, TN 37876 or Covenant Health Hospice.
Graveside service and interment 11 AM Thursday at Shiloh Cemetery, Pigeon Forge with Rev. John Clark officiating. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Wednesday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. (www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
