HUFF, MARYANA - age 88, of Johnson City, TN, with great sadness the family announces the passing on Sunday, July 31, 2011. Maryana was born December 25, 1922 in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late J. Harlan and Margaret (Lyons) Smith, who moved to Kingsport, TN where she lived until graduating from high-school. She attended Peace Junior College in Raleigh, NC until marrying Creswell D. Huff on September 18, 1946, remaining husband and wife for over 57 years until his death in 2004. Raising five children as a mother and housewife, working for Pet Dairy, assisting her mother in publishing a novel, volunteering for civic activities, oil painting, music, and church activities are among the many hobbies she enjoyed throughout her life. She never met a stranger and enjoyed family and friend get-togethers as often as she could. Maryana was a member of the Presbyterian faith and attended both Princeton Presbyterian and First Presbyterian Church of Johnson City following their move to the city in 1960. Survived by: sons David (and Sally) Huff of Knoxville, TN, Steven Huff of Atlanta, GA, Sam Allen (and Cheryl) Huff of Collinsville, MS, and Pete (and Julie) Huff of Jonesbourgh, TN; her loving daughter Cathy Huff who cared for Maryana in her later years; grandsons Ryne (and Britney) Huff of Fayetteville, NC, Tommy (and Christy) Huff of Johnson City, TN, and Josh Huff of Johnson City; great granddaughter Madison Huff; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. The family respectfully requests memorials be made to a favorite charity. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service celebrating the life of Maryana officiated by Dr. Andrew White and Dr. Calvin Jett Friday, August 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the North Chapel of the Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Online condolences are available at www.morrisbaker.com.
