He has lived his whole life in the Chestnut Hill Community and retired from Ball Corp, where he worked for many years. He was preceded in death by daughter, Tryna Thornton Wheatley; parents, Roy and Almeda Thornton; brother, Vern Thornton; father and mother-in-law Lonas and Buna Reagan; brother-in-law Steve McCoig and sister-in-law Lois Trentham. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Linda Reagan Thornton; granddaughter Willow Wheatley; sisters, Janice McCoig and Eva Askew; several nieces and nephews and family and friends. Services will be held 7:00 P.M. Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Rawlings Funeral Home in Sevierville with Rev. Jerry Colbert and Rev. Shannon Coleman officiating. Interment will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 12, 2017 in Big Springs/Proffitt Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 P.M. Sunday June 11, 2017 prior to the service.
