JOHNSTON, Margaret Elaine Gillespie, age 87 of Maryville, passed away Friday, September 15, 2006 at U.T. Medical Center. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church for over 50 years. Preceded in death by her husband, James A. Johnston; sons, James “Jim” Johnston Jr. and Donald V. “Don” Johnston; infant grandson, Donnie Johnston; Parents, Otha and Velma Gillespie; sisters, June Trotter and Isabelle Frazier; brother, Cecil Gillespie. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Margaret started every day with a verse from Psalms, “This is the day that the Lord hath made; I will rejoice and be glad in it.”
Survivors include: Daughter and son-in-law, Gwenyth “Gwen” and Richard Beem; sister and brother-in-law, Jewell and Buck Newman; daughters-in-law, Jane Johnston and Linda Johnston all of Maryville; grandchildren, Tammi (Dave) Helderman of Illinois, Patty Armstrong of Knoxville, Sheena Johnston of Ohio, Kristin (Jeff) Pryor, Megan (Shannon) Boring, Mary (Jason)Brown, Amelia Keller, Tom (Pattie) Beem all of Maryville, Richard Beem II of Knoxville; step granddaughter, Linda (John) Houston; great grandchildren, Tara and Jamie Helderman, Jordan Chaney and Gracie Pryor, Emily and Jake Boring, Tyra, Haylee, and Jase Brown, Thomas, Maddie and Rachel Beem.
Funeral services will be 7:30pm Sunday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Chapel with Rev. Chris Boruff officiating. Family and friends will meet 3:00pm Monday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for the interment. The family will receive friends 6:00-7:30pm Sunday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, 982-6812.
