William Edgar Crum, 76, of Newport passed away Wednesday at the Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee in Knoxville following a short illness. He was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church. William worked for Detroit Gasket for 26 years before his retirement in 1987. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo and Dora Corn Crum; sister, Arlene Naillon; and brothers, Franklin, T.J., Ben, Leonard, Parin, Ernest, Y.J., and Homer Crum. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Lewis Crum; sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Ella Mae Crum, of Newport and Rusty and Carla Crum, of Lenoir City; granddaughter, Teheresea Miller and her husband, William, of Newport; great-grandchildren, Nikki Lashea, Jackie Lee, and Carl Wayne Miller, all of Newport. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Brown Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ransom Hall and Rev. Jimmy Daniel officiating. Interment in the Union Cemetery. The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday evening at the Brown Funeral Home. Brown Funeral Home is in charge. [S58] Marriage Certificate.
