PRESSLEY, MR. SAMUEL W. - age 65, of 607 N. Pine Street, Elizabethton, died Saturday, October 24, 1998, in the James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. A native of Knoxville, Tenn., he was a son of the later Sam R. and Ceastie Hurst Pressley. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the VFW Capt. Lynn H. Folsom Post #2166 where he was active in the honor guard. He was a retired truck driver for Stanley Transportation Co. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harlon and Charles Pressley. Survivors include his wife, Betty J. Pressley of the home; two sons, David Pressley of Knoxville and William Moore of Hamilton, Ohio; five daughters, Pam Pyle of Clinton, Tenn., Patricia Nelson of Johnson City, Deborah Gail Carr, Sharon Ward, and Elizabeth Gibson, all of Knoxville; two sisters, Emma Jean Browning and Barbara Watson, both of Knoxville; a brother, James Pressley of Knoxville; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, October 26, 1998, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Watson officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Chariot Trio. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 1998, in the V.A. National Cemetery, Mountain Home. Military honors will be accorded by the VFW Capt. Lynn H. Folsom Post 2166. Active pallbearers will be J.R. Stanley, Melvin Love, William Moore, Dewey Pyle, Raymond Rosenbaum and Miles Nelson. Honorary pallbearers will be the doctors, nurses, and staff at James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center Hospital. The family will receive friends in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Monday, October 26, 1998, or at the residence any time. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 12 noon Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
