Services: A celebration of Helen’s Life will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, October 10, 2011 in the Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Horace Brown and Rev. David Bowser officiating.
Visitation: Family will receive friends on Monday, October 10, 2011 from 6:00 until 7:30 PM in the Smith Trinity Chapel.
Helen S. (Henry) Brown; age 77, of Maryville, passed peacefully on Friday, October 07, 2011 at Park West Medical Center in Knoxville, following a courageous 5 year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born May 23, 1934 in Walland, TN to the late Roy and Oma (Nichols) Henry. She graduated from Walland High School in 1952. After high school whe went to work at Standard Knitting Mill in Knoxville, then Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville, before becoming the military wife of Robert E. Brown on July 10, 1959. After her husband’s retirement from the United States Air Force, the family moved back to Blount County where Helen continued her education in nursing and earned her LPN license. For 17 years until her retirement in 2002 she worked in the pediatric office of Dr. Cecil B. Howard. She was a member of Cold Springs Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Earl, Fred, and Infant Roy Jr. Henry; sisters, Ruth Raines, Blanche Flynn, and Grace Dunlap; and beloved grandson, Matthew Brewer. She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Robert E. Brown of Maryville; daughter and son-in-law Rhonda and Gregory Fischer of Knoxville; sisters, Viola Bowser of Louisville, Nell Miller and Betty Davis of Walland; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends. A celebration of Helen’s Life will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, October 10, 2011 in the Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Horace Brown and Rev. David Bowser officiating. The family and friends will assemble at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 in the Grandview Cemetery for Interment Services. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital in Knoxville, TN. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 10, 2011 from 6:00 until 7:30 PM in the Smith Trinity Chapel of Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 983-1000.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital in Knoxville, TN.

Browns celebrate 50 years of marriage
Robert Earl and Helen Sue (Henry) Brown, of Maryville, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary July 10.
The couple were married July 10, 1959, at Cold Springs Baptist Church. The late Rev. Marvin Hood officiated.
Their family includes Rhonda, wife of Greg Fischer, and one grandson, the late Matthew David Brewer.
Mr. Brown is retired from the United States Air Force. Mrs. Brown is a retired nurse.
They are members of Cold Springs Baptist Church.
