Preceded in death by his daughter, Jodi Recina Nelson; parents, Benjamin Franklin and Virgie Mae Nelson; foster parents, Bruce and Paralee Petty; sister, Rosalee Moore; nephews, Ricky Nelson and Keith Nelson. Survived by his wife Beverly Nelson; brothers, James Hubert (Anne) Nelson, Grover Ernest (Doris) Nelson, Kenneth Wayne (Darlene) Nelson, William Bill (Carolyn) Petty, Jr.; brother in law, Palmer Moore; sisters, Jean Ellis (Sheep) Standifer, Jane Fong, Marsha (Art) Gilbert; step sons, Andrew (Lula) Ray, Philip (Lori) Ray; grandchildren, Sara, Hannah, Noah, Alaeni, Jonas, Zack, Tom; many nieces and nephews and special friends. The family will receive friends August 3, 2011 from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM with services following at 7:30 PM at Antioch Baptist Church, 5709 N. Broadway St., Knoxville, TN 37918 with Pastor Andrew Ray officiating. Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 12 PM at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens.
