WHALEY, LILLIAN (LIL) — age 87 of North Knoxville, widow of Vernon Whaley, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at 11:30 am at St. Mary's Hospital. A member of Marble City Baptist Church and the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class. Member of PBX Telecommunicators of Knoxville. Retired supervisor of PBX department of Fort Sanders Medical Center after thirty three years of service. Her hobby was crocheting butterflies for the Hospice program at Fort Sanders Medical Center.
She is survived by: son and daughter-in-law, Charles (Chuck) Norman and Diana Whaley of Rockwood; daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and William Clark of Concord; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Chris Francis of Knoxville; grandchildren, Chuck Whaley, Jr. and wife Jeanne of Knoxville, Chris Whaley and wife Dawn of Atlanta, T.J. and wife Jennifer of Knoxville, Jonathan Francis and wife Heather of Maryville, Emily and husband B.J. Withrow of Knoxville, Matthew Francis of Knoxville, Steve Hawkins of Atlanta, Scott Rupe & Wife Seanna of Fla, Robin Bishop & husband Chris of Johnson City, Patricia Brown & husband Craig of Arden, N.C., Danny Clark and wife Sandra of Greeneville, S.C.; fifteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; sister, Rubye Burns of Concord; sister-in-law, Juanita Hammond of Knoxville; sisters-in-law, Grace Pierce of Lenoir City and Mildred Gibson of Pigeon Forge; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service 7:30 p.m. Friday Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with Rev Chris Farmer, Rev George Williams and W.C. Thornton officiating. Interment 1:00 p.m. Saturday Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Marble City Baptist Church, 2740 Sutherland Ave., Knoxville, TN 37919. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.
