He was of the Baptist Faith and retired from Bell South after 35 years of service. Preceded in death by parents, Toby Lee & Virgie Patterson; brothers, Toby Lee Patterson, Jr., Malcom Patterson; and sister, Edythe Chamberlin. He is survived by a son, Gary Patterson & wife Sherry of Charleston, Tennessee; and daughter, Karen Patterson of Cleveland, Tennessee; grandchildren, Brian Patterson, Kelly Murray, Amanda Szidiropulosa, Carissa Benton, Melissa Young and Emily Varnell; 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital, 1900 Richmond Road Lexington, Kentucky 40502.
