Andrew Messer , 87, of Newport, passed away Saturday at the Bristol Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. Andrew was a veteran of WWII and was a very active member of LCPL Charles C. Roberts D.A.V. Chapter 102 before his illness. He had retired from Wheaton Glass. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ada Mae Huff Messer . He is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Huff, Mr. and Mrs. Turner Huff, Marjorie Rolen, and Annie Huff, all of Newport; special nephew, Paul Bryant, of Newport; great nephew, Bobby Huff, of Newport; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Sunday at 8 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Chapel with Rev. Joe Bible officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside service 10 a.m. Monday at Brooks Cemetery with military rites provided by LCPL Charles C. Roberts D.A.V. Chapter 102. Brown Funeral Home is in charge.
