February 6, 1921 - November 22, 2013
Pack, John Paul "Pappaw", age 92, of West Knoxville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, November 22, 2013. Born in Knoxville, Paul grew up in the Del Rio Community of Cocke County, TN and then at the John Tarleton Home in Knoxville. He worked as a truck driver before his career as plant foreman at Union Carbide - Linde Division for 43 years. Paul was a deacon and Sunday School Director at Marble City Baptist Church for most of his life. Paul never met a stranger and was dearly loved by his family and friends. He had a mischievous sense of humor and loved to tell a good story. He loved to travel and had visited all 50 states and Canada. During his last few years, he suffered from Alzheimers disease and his family experienced the long goodbye but had lots of time to tell him how much they loved him. During this time he had some wonderful caregivers at Brakebill and West Hills Nursing Homes and the family will be forever thankful for their sweet care. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Maggie Grindstaff Pack; brothers, Ben, Creed, Charlie, Frank and Cecil Pack; sister, Nell Williams Snyder. Survivors include wife of 72 years, Alma Dockery Pack; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Janet Pack; grandchildren, Kelly Pack Berry and her husband Fred, Rob Pack and his wife, April; great-grandchildren, Zack and his wife Morgan, Bryce and Jesse Berry and Cannon, Cooper and Carolina Pack. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary of Marble City Baptist Church, 2740 Sutherland Ave. Knoxville, TN 37919 from 10:30 a.m. till 12:00 noon Monday, November 25, 2013 with a service celebrating Paul's life to follow at 12 noon. Paul's longtime dear friends, Rev. Gibbs Hammond and W.C. Thornton will officiate the service. Following the service, family and friends will proceed in procession to Highland Memorial Cemetery for the interment service. Pallbearers will be Fred, Zack, Bryce, and Jesse Berry and Rob, Cannon and Cooper Pack. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Marble City Baptist Church. Condolences may be offered at www.berryfuneralhome.com.
