RAINWATER, GLENN FOX - age 92, born November 5, 1915 of Knoxville, formerly of Dandridge, departed this life Saturday, May 17, 2008 at St. Mary's Residential Hospice following a brief illness. He was a longtime member of Lincoln Park United Methodist Church and a proud veteran of the US Army serving during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge with the 38th Infantry Regiment. He was a retired manager of the White Store. He is preceded in death by parents, John Wiley and Laura Fox Rainwater of Dandridge; sisters, Lettie Smelcer, Nora Caton, Nina and Lucy Rainwater; brother Rex Rainwater. Mister Rainwater is loved and survived by wife, Lucille McAndrew Rainwater; children, Glenda Rainwater Rogers and Edward W. (June) Rainwater; brother, Clyde (Ruby) Rainwater; grandchildren: Melissa (Adam) Rogers Sandling, Michael Glenn Rogers, Serena Key, Sabrina Lewis; great-grandchildren: Christopher, Dakoda, Ashley, and Brittney Key; nephews Earl, Burl, and Carl Rainwater, G.B. and Walter Burl Smelcer, Ray and Paul Caton; nieces: Laura Trundle, Jane Gilliam, Marjorie Hance, and Betty Jean Helton; cousin, Payne Rainwater; as well as other nieces, nephews, and cousins; special family friend, David Payne. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church of Dandridge Cemetery Fund. Family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel with funeral service to follow at 8:00 PM, Rev. Tom King officiating. Family and friends will meet at Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Dandridge at 4:00 PM Wednesday for interment services.
