Lucille Ownby of Sevierville, TN and formerly of Gatlinburg, TN, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Fort Sanders Sevier Nursing Home. She was of the Baptist Faith. She was known for her grace, generosity, strong opinions, high standards, and morals. She was born July 27, 1934 in Gatlinburg, TN where she lived most of her life. Lucille and her late husband, Jack, served the tourism industry of Gatlinburg for many years through several small businesses including a motel, campground, and a woodcraft shop. She was an animal lover who enjoyed bird watching and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a much loved mom, nana, aunt, and friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack D. Ownby; sister, Anna Louise Bowling; and brothers, Benjamin C. Ogle and Bon D. Ogle.
Lucille is survived by her son, Billy Ownby and wife Nicki; daughter, Sandra Ownby; grandchildren, Gavin, Jordan, Hannah, and Megan Ownby; great-grandchildren, Karson and Kohen Ownby; brother, Bruce “Buddy” Ogle and wife Betty; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Fort Sanders Sevier Nursing Home for the kind and compassionate care they provided.
The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Wednesday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 7 PM with Rev. Jerry Hyder officiating. Interment 11 AM Thursday in Proffitt Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.atchleyfuneralhome.com.
