Alma O’Dell Wilde, 85, of Oak Ridge, passed away at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville on Sunday, May 13, 2007. She was born on December 16, 1921, in Greenville, S.C., to parents Fred O’Dell, Sr. and Daisy Bishop O’Dell. She worked as a bookkeeper with Hamilton First, retiring in 1984. After retirement she worked at the Oak Ridge School’s extended childcare. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, Oak Ridge, and was formerly active with the Republican Party, being an alternate delegate in 1964 to the convention in San Francisco. Mrs. Wilde was preceded in death by husband, Andrew “Andy” Gene Wilde, August 1998; son, Jerry Wilde, 2004, and by son-in-law, Lee Spencer, 1998. Survivors include, son, Stephen Wilde and wife, Jane, Knoxville; daughters, Robin Wilde Spencer, Knoxville, and Diane Wilde, Lebanon, Tenn.; three granddaughters, Melissa and Natalie Spencer, Knoxville, and Kristy Wilde, Newport; four grandsons, Johnny Wilde and Juanita Walls, Oak Ridge; Kenneth and Tonya Wilde, Knoxville; Nathan and Pam Wilde, Newport; and Matthew and Tammy Wilde, Parrottsville; and by nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary on Tuesday, May 15, 2007, 8 p.m. with the Rev. Glenn Ellis officiating. The family requests that memorials be in the form of donations to either Central Baptist Church, 130 Providence Rd., Oak Ridge, TN 37830 or to American Heart Association, Southeast Affiliate, P.O. Box 409410, Atlanta, GA 30384-9410. The graveside service will be held at Oak Ridge Memorial Park, Wednesday, 1 p.m. The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
