KENNETH E. SIMPSON, age 81, of Strawberry Plains, TN went to be with the Lord at Jefferson Memorial Hospital on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 10:32 p.m. He was a faithful member of the Paw Paw Hollow Baptist Church and was a fifty year member of the French Broad Lodge #588 F & AM. Kenneth was a veteran of the Korean Conflict (1950-1952), serving as a corporal in the U. S. Army and retired from the Palm Beach Co. of Knoxville after 50 years of service. Preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Gertrude Simpson; special aunt, Myrtle Taylor; brothers, Raymond, J. B. and Hugh B. Simpson; half-brothers, Jack and Fred simpson; sisters, Evelyn Simpson, Wilma Sparks; and half-sister, Bessie Ogle. Survived by wife of 55 years, Wanda Snyder Simpson; daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie and Rick Epperson of Rutledge; son, Kenneth Dean Simpson and fiance` Lisa Roberts of Strawberry Plains; step-grandchildren, Jennifer Coffman, Hunter and Landon Coffman; brother, Richard Simpson of Burnside, KY; sisters, Ruth Hancock of Richmond, VA and Frances Preston of Knoxville, TN and a host of special nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at Paw Paw Hollow Baptist Church with Rev. Al Smith and Rev. Ronnie White officiating. Interment graveside service with military honors and Masonic rites will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Paw Paw Hollow Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
