Ralph Edward Myers (Pops), age 84 of Blaine went to be with our heavenly Father on Sunday, December 19, 2010. He served our country with honors, as he was drafted into the navy in 1944 where he served 2 years. He then went to the Army and served a total of 11 years as a wonderful soldier. He earned two Naval medals; Asiatic/Pacific Medal and Victory Medal; and three Army medals, Good Conduct medal, Army Occupation medal, and the Defense Service medal. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joel Ellis and Lillie Marie Myers of Gatlinburg; brothers, Ben and Merryl Myers of Blaine.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Barbara Ann Myers; children, Deborah Rose of Rutledge, Darrell (Tonya) Myers of Corryton, Dale (Anita) Myers of Pigeon Forge, Denise (Kirk) Pitts of Knoxville, and Kristen Myers of the home; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010 in the chapel of Smith-Reagan Funeral Home in Rutledge with Rev. Lee Wayne Grubb officiating. The family will gather at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday in Block Springs Church Cemetery in Blaine for military graveside honors at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends 6 p.m. till 8 p.m. Tuesday prior to services at the funeral home.
