LONG, CHARLES LAMAR - age 44 went home to be with the Lord on February 22, 2009 after fighting a year and half battle with cancer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and making people laugh. He was preceded in death by his mother, Francis M. Long; and father-in-law, Fred Wright. Survivors: wife of 22 years, Lisa; daughter, Amanda; father, Herman L. Long; mother-in-law, Joyce Wright Hanks & husband, Wayne Hanks; brothers, Roger L. Long and Mark S. Long; sister, Sherri J. Fowler & husband, Jeff Fowler; nephews, Cameron C. Moore, Christopher S. Barker; niece, Kayla D. Barker; many aunts, uncles, cousins & friends. Special friends & family who supported Charles and the family: Steve & Ron Mays, Robby & Rosetta Dabney, Jim & rose Bradshaw (Nanny & Nan-Daddy), Kenny Kanipes, Michael Bates, Angie Murray, Jenna Horton, Emory & Kim Barker, and all of Mark's life long friends. Special thanks to Thompson Cancer Center and 4th floor nurses at Methodist Medical Center for all the care and support. They are very special people. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 from 6-8 PM at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 8:00 PM with Rev. Steve Merritt & Rev. Tom Chadwick officiating. Interment will be Thursday, February 26th at 11:00 AM at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Clinton. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of the arrangements.
