(July 3, 1930 - August 1, 2011) Bonnie Sue Myers, age 81, of Townsend, passed away Monday, August 1, 2011, at her home. She was born July 3, 1930, in Cades Cove to Golman and Viola Burchfield Myers. She was a graduate of Townsend High School and Knoxville Business College. Bonnie worked at the Smoky Mountains Natural History Association in Cades Cove for over 30 years where she made friends with people from all across America who send her birthday and Christmas cards to this day. Her knowledge of the history of Cades Cove and its people was outstanding. The last years of her life were dimmed by the gradual onslaught of Alzheimer’s. Those who preceded her in death include her parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, Theodore Myers, Clee and Johnnie Myers, Wayne and Billie Myers; and nephew, Dale Myers. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Joan Myers; sister-in-law, Juanita Myers; nephews, Glenn, Joe, Roger, Ronald, Jerry, John, and Danny Myers; special cousins, Hugh Myers, Verna Myers, and Judy Johns; special neighbor, Mike Lindsey; and many great nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 7:00 PM Thursday, August 4, 2011, at Miller Funeral Home Cedar Chapel, Rev. Darren Wiggington officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Bonnie to Alzheimer’s Tennessee, Inc. (2270 Sutherland Ave., Suite 202, Knoxville, TN 37919, (865) 544-6288). Family and friends will meet 10:00 AM Friday at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Townsend for the interment.
