Irwin of The Daily Times Staff A Sevier County man died from an apparent heart attack Thursday during an all-terrain vehicle outing with friends, and emergency responders carried his body several miles to reach the nearest roadway. J.B. Perault II, Happy Hollow Road, Sevierville, was in a group riding their all-terrain vehicles in a woodland area off Long Rifle Road near the Blount/Sevier county line. Perault, 42, apparently suffered a heart attack and died after his all-terrain vehicle overturned and he exerted himself getting the vehicle back on its wheels. The Sevier County Sheriff's Office received the initial report of the accident and death. Sevier County Sheriff's deputies and personnel from the Wears Valley Volunteer Fire Department responded and determined Perault could not be revived. As they began an investigation, the Sevier County deputies realized the death had occurred in Blount rather than Sevier County. The Blount County Sheriff's Office was notified at 6:48 p.m. Thursday. Six Blount County Sheriff's officers were eventually involved in an investigation at the scene, recovery of the body, and coordination of emergency personnel. The victim, who was a large man weighing over 200 pounds, was moved on a fire department gurney along narrow trails through the woods to Wears Valley Road, where the recovery team met a Rural/Metro ambulance shortly before 10 p.m. Perault was then taken to Blount Memorial Hospital. Mr. Perault was preceded in death by his mother Liza Jane Perault and brother Carl Perault.
