WRIGHT, ARTHUR W. - age 86, went home to be with the Lord and his wife, Saturday, February 11, 2006 at his residence. Mr. Wright was born in the Edgemoor area of Anderson County to Mr. and Mrs. Edd Wright. He married Tressie Stooksbury January 30, 1942 and served in World War II in the Pacific on Russell Island and the Philippines. He owned and operated Wright Lumber Company for almost fifty years. He was a member and deacon, and cemetery committee at Zion Baptist Church in Claxton. He loved his family and his church family. He also loved fishing, following the Braves and UT sports. He was preceded in death by: his loving wife, Tressie S. Stooksbury; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edd Wright; sister, Mrs. Edna Bearden; brother, Mr. Claude Wright; son, Fred A. Wright; grandson, Adam Wright. Survivors: children, Carl & wife Paula Wright of Clinton, Willard & wife Pat Wright of Andersonville, Wilma Brooks & husband Larry of Clinton; daughter-in-law, Joyce Hanks & husband Wayne of Clinton; grandchildren, Kim Barker, Lisa Long, Candi Harber, Micky and Craig Brooks, Carley Holbrook, and Wesley Wright; 10 great grandchildren; brother & sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Milas Stooksbury; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with funeral services following in the chapel with Rev. Glen Gamble officiating. His burial will be 11:00 am, Wednesday at Zion Cemetery. His pallbearers will be his grandsons. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements.
