Frances Joan Latham Patty was born January 21, 1933, in Sevierville, Tennessee; she died on January 2, 2014, in Tazewell, Tennessee. Born and raised in Sevier County, she moved to Tazewell in 1964. She was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church (Sevierville) and New Tazewell United Methodist Church. Mrs. Patty is preceded in death by parents Verlan Haskell Latham and Dixie Louise Walker Latham; brother, Benton Hugh Latham; infant twin brothers, Carroll Walker Latham and Harrell Walter Latham; and son-in-law James Richard Giles. She is survived by her children Elizabeth Patty Giles, Jane Louise Patty, John Paul (Ellen) Patty, and Rebecca Patty (Michael) Crutchfield; grandchildren Dustin Wayne Antrican, Meghan Giles (Barrett) Tullis, January Leigh Antrican, John Gordon Giles, James Nathan Giles, Caleb Michael Crutchfield, Daphne Jane Nunn, Clayton Haze Nunn, Chloe Grace Crutchfield, John Robert “Jack” Patty, and William Latham Patty; great-grandchildren Sadie Elizabeth Tullis and Atlantis Baye Kinleigh Nunn; sister Betty Latham Tarwater, and brothers Haskell Verlan Latham and James William Latham; special niece Helen Tarwater Parton and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Patty’s greatest joys were spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and being outside working in her yard. The family will receive friends at New Tazewell United Methodist Church in New Tazewell, Tennessee, on Saturday, January 4 from 2-4 pm with funeral immediately following. Memorial service and interment will be at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Sevierville on Sunday, January 5 at 2 pm. Mrs. Patty’s grandsons, Dustin Antrican, Gordon Giles, Nathan Giles, Caleb Crutchfield, Clayton Nunn, and Bear Tullis, will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Tazewell United Methodist Church or Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.
