Kenneth Hodges, age 75 of Kodak, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015.
Kenny was a humble, honest, and hardworking man who loved his family. He was devoted to his family and was always there for them through all life's good times and bad.
Kenny was a faithful member of Kodak United Methodist Church and worked for the Knoxville News Sentinel for over 40 years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Co-op, Farm Bureau, and the Sevier County Livestock Association.
He was a lifelong farmer and grew tobacco for many years. He frequently traveled the roads of Kodak on his tractor often causing traffic jams. Kenny was known to bring his baby calves into his basement and hand feed them during the cold of January. He could build, fix, and repair anything. His family has lots of fond memories of the pontoon boat with the diving board and the camper he built. He could never sit still and always had to be tinkering on and fixing something. He was always cutting wood and enjoyed meeting the people who bought it. He would do anything for anyone who asked.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jane Hodges; daughter, Beckie Hodges Shephard; parents, Margaret and John Hodges; father and mother-in-law, Chester and Carrie Swann, Clay and Inas Smelcer; sisters, Janie Shaffer and Patsy Childress; sister and brother-in-law, Doris Terry and Roy Smelcer.
Survivors include his wife, Freda O'Dell Hodges; daughters, Chesta Hodges Hammontree and fiancé Scott Catlett; Tonja O'Dell; grandchildren, Thomas and Hannah Hammontree, Madara, Cole and Cari Shephard; sister, Kathy Wilbanks and husband John; brothers, Eddie Hodges and wife Jennie, Jim Hodges; sisters-in-law, Jeanna Cole and husband Frank, Janice Smelcer; brother-in-law, Reaford Terry; son-in-law, Dannie Shephard; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
