Resided in Sevierville, TN
Emma Eloise Burnett Pitner went to her home in Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, family members, and many friends at age 93. She was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church in Knoxville (1929-1946 and 1964-present).
From 1947-1963, she was a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church. In both churches she loved working with children, teaching Sunday school classes, and directing the Girls' Auxilliary, which trained girls to love missions and memorize verses from the Bible. She also served as the Director of Knox County GA's and worked as a Knox County public school substitute teacher until her health declined.
Her husband of 65 years, Claude Pitner, preceded her to Heaven in 2004; as did her father, Oscar Burnett, in 1973; mother, Ida Burnett, in 2004; and sister, Betty Burnett Huff, in 2015. She is deeply loved and will be missed. Her remaining family are two daughters, Claudette Pitner Litz and Theresa Pitner Collins; son-in-law, Stanley Collins; four grandchildren: Reagan Collins, Hope Collins, Ross Litz, and Dwayna Litz; five great-grandchildren: Asha Collins, Mason Collins, Luke Litz, Jacob Litz, and Jordan Litz.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the following physicians: Clint Doiron, Eric Dickerson, of Knoxville, TN and Eric Littleton of Sevierville, TN.
Family and friends will meet 2 PM Tuesday in Valley Grove Cemetery for graveside service and interment with Rev. Keith Vaughn, Paul Pickens, and Donny Carr officiating. Arrangements by Atchley Funeral Home, Seymour. Online condolences may be made at www.atchleyfuneralhome.com
