HATCHER , EDWARD "EDD" HARRIS - beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather, of Walland, went to his Heavenly Home on Sunday, May 14, 2000. Mr. Hatcher was a long-time member of West Miller's Cove Missionary Baptist Church where he was a Song Director in earlier years and was well-known for his cooking and taking food to friends and neighbors in the community. His hobbies included wood carving and playing numerous musical instruments (by ear). He was also an avid gardener and enjoyed wildlife and nature. Mr. Hatcher was a retiree from The Aluminum Company of America and was a member of The Alcoa 25-Year Club. Mr. Hatcher was preceded in death by parents, James Houston and Alice Caldony Hatcher ; brothers, William, John and Cam Hatcher ; sisters, Bardia, Rebecca, Della Myers, Birda, Nola and Ann Hodge. Survivors are Grace Patty Hatcher , his wife of 61 years; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Ben McConnell of Knoxville, Christine and Allen Hart of Maryville; granddaughters and husbands, Christie and Mike Howell, Angie and Mike Pritchett, Buffie and Eric Lambert; great-grandchildren, Michael and Rebecca Howell, Amanda and Kalie Pritchett, Joshua and Matthew Lambert. In addition, Mr. Hatcher leaves a host of friends, nieces and nephews, including special nephew, Max Hodge. Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2000 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with the Rev. Raymond Young and Rev. R. M. Everett officiating. Interment will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at West Miller's Cove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Miller's Cove Missionary Baptist Youth Ministry at Miller's Cove Missionary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 356, Walland, TN 37886. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary, 865-983-1000.
