Iona Blankenship, age 93 of Sevierville, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 28, 2006. She was of the Baptist faith.
Iona was an accomplished seamstress. Designing clothing and quilting was a pleasured pastime to her. Granny, as everybody called Iona, was well known in the community as a person who loved everyone.
Iona was preceded in the death by her husband, Arlie Blankenship; parents, Mitchell and Bertha McCarter; step-mother, Francis McCarter; son-in-law, Richard Barker; twelve brothers and sisters.

Daughter: Charlene Barker of Sevierville
Grandchildren: Tim McCarter, Sharon Stoffle and husband Jerry, and Sheila Barker, all of Sevierville, Vickie Clabo and husband Steve of Dandridge, Gary McCarter and wife Lisa of Sevierville

Several nieces and nephews and a host of friends
Funeral service 12 noon Thursday in the Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Dallas Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in Cummings Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Wednesday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. (www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
