Fred G. Lane, 86, of Newport, died Sunday after a lengthy illness.
He was a member of the Union Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Julia Lane; wife, Zella Lane; brothers, Creed, Bud, William and Bruce Lane; and sisters, Hattie Templin, Maxie Sisk, Sara Lane, and Glennie Butler.
Survivors: sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Alma Jean Lane and Johnny Ralph and Peggy Lane; daughters and sons-in-law, Elmer Rose and Charles Kenneth Wines, Luzella and Darrell Giles, and Shirley and Edward Sherrell Byrd; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held at 8 p.m. Monday at the Manes Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Wiley and Rev. Estel Wilson officiating. Interment was in the Lane Cemetery.
Manes Funeral Home was in charge.
