MAYS, ANNA MAE - age 93 of Knoxville passed away Friday, October 31 at her home surrounded in love by her family. She was a member of Meridian Baptist Church and a long time member of Riverview Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Hubert L. Mays and her son, H.L. Mays, Jr. Surviving members of her family are loving daughter, Jo Ann McCarty and husband Clint; son, Gary Mays and wife Jane; two sisters, Nettie Lawson and Irene Yardley; and beloved sister-in-law, Dora Ford. Her legacy is six loving grandchildren, Steve McCarty and wife Jan, Debbie White and husband Doug, Kathy Coffey and husband Charlie, Jerry Mays and wife Renee, Rick Mays and wife Lisa, and Jamie Snyder and husband Joe; 10 great grandchildren, Christy Barton and husband David, J.D. White and wife Colleen, Clint McCarty and wife Dustye, Amon Mays, Aaron Mays, C.J. Coffey, Drew Mays, Matt Mays, Eli Snyder and Anna Jane Snyder; 9 great-great grandchildren, along with many special nieces and nephews. Our family's matriarch will be missed beyond words, but we are eternally grateful for the almost 94 years of life she blessed and graced us with. Family will receive friends Monday, November 3, 2008 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Highland South Park Memorial Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Dana Fachman and Dr. Doug White officiating. Interment services will be Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Asbury Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dr. J.D. White, Mr. Vance McCarty, Mr. David Barton, Mr. Joe Snyder, Rick Mays and Mr. Steve McCarty. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Clint McCarty, Mr. Charlie Coffey, Mr. C.J. Coffey and Mr. Jerry Mays.
