Deborah Jean McCarter Taylor, 51, died June 11 at her home from a long and difficult illness. Funeral services were June 15 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Murfreesboro with Father Gene Wise and Father Timothy Jones officiating. Burial was in Monteagle Cemetery, Monteagle. Mrs. Taylor was a native of Sevierville, at age 12, she became the pianist for her church, First Baptist Church of Pigeon Forge, where her father was a deacon. She continued as the church pianist until age 18. She attended Sevier County High School and was a member of the Marching Band's Color Guard, a member of the National Honor Society and received the Dolly Parton Music Scholarship award as a graduating Senior. She attended the University of Tennessee and majored in Psychology, completed her minor in music and graduated with high honors in 1984 when she began her professional life as a music teacher in Murfreesboro. During her more than 19 years of teaching, she taught hundreds of children and several adults to play the piano. Next to her own children, her piano students were the most important people in her life. She was also a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church during her adult life. She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene McCarter. She is survived by her husband, Thomas F. Taylor III; mother, Verna McCarter, Pigeon Forge; daughters, Leigh King and Rachel Taylor both of Murfreesboro; sons, Isaac Taylor and Jordan Taylor both of Murfreesboro; sister, Darlene Carr of Pigeon Forge; grandchildren, Alex and Katie King.
