July 10, 1942 - October 16, 2016 Resided in Seymour, TN John Walter Maynard, 74, of Seymour and formerly of Talbott, TN passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016. He was born July 10, 1942 in Cocke County. He served in the United States Navy from 1968 until he was honorably discharged in 1970. John was an entrepreneur in the automotive industry. He loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Galyon Maynard; parents, William and Margaret Maynard; brother, George Maynard; and sisters, Mary Ridgeway and Judy Sapp. John is survived by his children, Michelle and James Robinson, John and Jessie Maynard, Gabrielle and David Richey, Glenn and Toni Strickland, and other children; grandchildren, James Maynard, Victoria Maynard, James Robinson, Dakota Maynard, Sharina Wolfe, Cheyenne Maynard, Kaydee Richey, Alex Strickland; other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Maynard; sister, Billie Marsh; several generations of nieces and nephews; and a host of loving extended family members and friends. In John's honor, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post #104, P.O. Box 4242, Sevierville, TN 37864. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 PM Thursday with the funeral service to follow at 6 PM in the East Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. Pastor Corey Lee will be officiating.
