SPURGEON, age 93 of White Pine, TN passed away Monday morning, Dec. 22, 2003 at Mariner Health Care Center in Newport, TN. She was born on May 13, 1910 in White Pine, TN and was the daughter of the late James Keebler and Nora McNabb Spurgeon. She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters, Ralph, Charlie, Fannie, James, Elizabeth, Samuel, Jennie Akark Spurgeon and margaret S. Fletcher. Katharine was raised in White Pine, where she attended the public schools and then pursied her education at Carson Newman College. Following graduation she taught school for a number of years in the Blytheville, Arkansas school system and later retired to her home in White Pine. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of White Pine. She is survived by her niece, Helen E. Rowles and nephew, Ralph Spurgeon, Jr., both of Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, 2003 from the Farrar Funeral Chapel in White Pine with Rev. James Dampier officiating. Interment to follow in Union Cemetery in Newport, TN. The family will receive friends Friday from 12 noon until 1 p.m. prior to services at Farrar Funeral Home in White Pine, TN www.farrarfuneralhome.com
