James Elmer McCarter, age 69, of Seymour passed away Saturday, January 17, 2004, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was a Member of Riverview Baptist Church in Knoxville
He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Isabell McCarter, Father and Mother-in-law, Ben and Eula Miller, and by five brothers.
Survivors:
Wife: Margaret Miller McCarter
Special grandson whom he and Margaret raised: Michael Alan Lee and wife Bobbie, of Seymour
Sons and daughters-in-law: David Wayne McCarter and wife Bernadette of Crossville, James Troy McCarter and wife Brenda of Knoxville
Daughters and son-in-law: Sandra Kay Hunley and husband Alfred, of Knoxville, and Vickie Lee, of Louisville
Very special and precious granddaughters: Amanda Marie McCarter, Green Valley Dev. Ctr. Greenville, Michaela (Pa’s girl) Elizabeth Lee, and nine other Grandchildren and eleven Great-grandchildren
Sisters and brothers-in-law: Anna Tucker and special friend Jim Smith, Mary Ruth Cate and husband Bobby, and Wilma Kay Vess and husband Leon

Funeral service 7:30 PM Monday in Atchley’s Seymour Chapel with Rev. Steve Hancock and Rev. Ray Barber officiating. Interment 11 AM Tuesday in Atchley’s Seymour Memory Gardens.
