Jessie Mathis Jessie Mathis, 90, of Sevier County, died Friday morning, Nov. 19, 2004. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cal Mathis and Maggie Messer, and three brothers. Survivors include his sisters, Lilly Abbott, of Sevierville, and Veryl Mathis, of Cosby; brothers, Worley Mathis, of Greene County, Roy Mathis, of Rogersville, and Gene Dunn, of Newport; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. today at the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Monday at Jackson Chapel Cemetery for the 11 a.m. interment service. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Jackson Chapel Cemetery Fund. Costner-Maloy Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
