Gladys Pauline "Polly" Pollard Fortenberry, 92, died Thursday, April 27, 2006, after a lingering illness.Born April 24, 1914, she was the eldest child of Robert Dean Pollard and Edith Mae Widener Pollard and widow of the late Sam Fortenberry. She became a Christian early in life and at age 14 became a member of Henry's Crossroads United Methodist Church, later known as Kodak United Methodist Church.She was preceded in death by parents, Robert Dean and Edith Mae Pollard and husband, Sam Fortenberry (who together founded Fortenberry Sausage Inc.); sister, Edna Pollard Johnson and brothers, Ed Pollard and Jack Pollard.Survivors and care givers include her son, Arvil Dean and wife, Joyce; granddaughter, Regina Underwood and husband Conley; great-granddaughters, Ashley Catherine and Abbey Danielle; sister Mary Ruth Wilson and husband Bob of Dandridge; sisters-in-law, Lillian Pollard of Strawberry Plains, Lucy Pollard of Kodak and Mildred Fortenberry Stiles of Kodak; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, and friends. Interment is 2 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2006, in Henry's Crossroads Cemetery.
