He was preceded in death by parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lark Ayres; wife, Louise Ayres; 7 brothers and 2 sisters; and grandsons, Lynn and Chris. Vernon is survived by his son, Jerry and wife Ginger; grandsons: Paul and wife Donna, Mark and wife Stacy; granddaughter, Tammy and husband Johnny; several great-grandchildren; and great-great-granddaughter, Isabella. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 28th from 6 - 7 pm at McCarty-Evergreen Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at Asbury Cemetery on Friday, October 29th for a 10 am interment service, Rev. Archie Elliott officiating.
