Ben Thomas Johnson, age 83 of Maryville, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, May 26, 2012 with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by parents, James A. and Ella Belt Johnson; brothers, Glyn and Cecil “Bud” Johnson; sisters, Nellie Shinpaugh and Ruth Henry. He served in the US Army for 2 years and was awarded Honorable Discharge as a Corporal. He was retired from Alcoa with 30 years of service. Ben was also a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church. Survivors include wife of 48 years, Edith Lindsey Johnson; son, Donnie Johnson; son and daughter in law, Joe and Melissa Johnson; grandchildren, Makayla and Hunter Johnson, which were his world. Also surviving are niece, nephew, and other family members and friends. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Blount Memorial Hospice nurses and staff. Family will receive friends from until 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday May 28, 2012 at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel with the funeral service to follow with Rev. Butch Cooper and Rev.
