Mary Jo “Jodie” James, age 66, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2004, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center.
She was of the Methodist faith.
Jodie and her husband, Virgil James, were the owner and proprietor of James Food Market for over 34 years. They started their market in 1969 and Jodie ran the market until 2003.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; son, Anthony Randall (Randy) James; and parents, Ila Bea and A.G. Layman.
Jodie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nadine and Rodney Varner, and son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Rose James. Grandchildren, Cara Zimmerman, Matthew Haynes, Tammie Clark, and Virgil James. Brother and sisters-in-law, Cletus and Suzie Layman. Sister and brother-in-law, Lena and Richard Williamson. Nephew, Wilbur Ball, and very special friends, Sue and Dustin Linden and Frank and Elizabeth Rush.
Family and friends will meet at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 9, 2004, at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Dandridge, Tenn., for a graveside service with Pastor Ronald Varner officiating.
Pallbearers, Matthew Haynes, Virgil James, Mark Zimmerman, Dustin Linden, David Corbin Jr., and Steve Schaffer.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.
