S. Army Veteran serving in World War II. G. L. was preceded in death by his parents, Dock and Artie Mae Layman; brothers Conard and Sears Layman. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Anna Mae Dockery Layman; son, Dennis Layman and wife, Sue; Cecil Layman and wife, Sandy; Daughters, Wanda Hughes and husband, Johnny; Doris Barnes; Shirley Foster and husband, Fred; grandchildren, Marty Layman and wife, Holly; Craig Layman and wife, Neisha; Jason Layman and wife, Brandi; Tina and Kevin; Robin Hughes; Rhonda Hodge and husband, Randy; Stacy Cutshaw and wife, Maria; Travis France and wife, Amy; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Lonnie B. Layman and wife, Janella; sisters, Lela Hill; Almeda Thornton; Glenda McCoig and husband, Fred Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday December 6, 2008 at Burchfield Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael E. Ladd and Rev. John Clark officiating. Interment will follow the service in Burchfield Memorial Church Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by American Legion Post 104. The family will receive friends 12:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the church prior to the service.
