Ford, Imogene Latham, age 85, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016. She joined Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in 1943 and transferred membership to Hendron’s Chapel United Methodist Church in 1966. Imogene served as church treasurer for 18 years and was the first female Trustee. Imogene graduated from Sevier County High School in 1948, Draughon’s Business College in 1949 and Liberty University of Lynchburg, VA in 1997. She retired from Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company in 1992 after 43 years of faithful service and was on the payroll for a total of 67 years. Imogene volunteered with Knox Area Rescue Ministries for 5 years and was voted Volunteer of the Year in 1996. She loved to travel. Her desire was to walk where Christ walked which she did in 1983 to Israel, Jordan, Egypt; plus in 1990, Austria, England, Belgium, Italy, France, Morocco, Mexico, Hawaii, Bahamas. Upon her travels, Imogene was able to attend a performance of the “The Passion” play in the German city of Oberammergau which is only performed every 10 years. Since retirement in April 1992, she attended bible study at Knoxville Baptist Tabernacle weekly under the leadership of Rev. Bill Whitehead and wife, Reba. Imogene is preceded in death by husband, Lawrence Ford; father and mother, Sam and Hazel Latham; brother, Jerry Latham; sisters, Johnnie Mae, Maxine Latham; niece, Linda Ruth Latham; sisters-in-law, Marie Latham, Sudia Ford, Pauline Ford, Bonnie Ford; brothers-in-law, M.C. Kerr, Claude Ford, Charlie Ford. She is survived by sister, Aliene Kerr; brothers, Ralph (Ruth) Latham, Roy (Gail) Latham, Jack (Linda) Latham; sister-in-law, Kathy Latham; several nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews. There will be a call of convenience Tuesday, March 1st at Berry Highland South on Simpson Road from 4-8 pm. Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 2nd at Berry Highland South at 1pm with burial to follow. Rev. Richard Richter and Rev. Sanders Whaley will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Hendron’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Shriners, St. Jude, Gideon’s, Kings Academy, or Johnson University.
