Lindsey, Roy Barton “Sorrell” -age 92, of Knoxville, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2005 at Baptist Hospital. He was a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church. Mr. Lindsey was a streetcar operator and the last surviving employee of the Knoxville Transit Lines having retired at the age of 67. He was also a member of the Charles McKinley Masonic Lodge and was an avid gardener. Mr. Lindsey lived a vibrant and active life and died peacefully as a result of complications from a recent fall. He is preceded in death by wife, Naomi Knight Lindsey.
Survivors
Survivors include: son, Charles B. Lindsey, Sr. and wife, Peggy of Soperton, Georgia; grandson, Charles B. “Chuck” Lindsey, Jr. and wife, Vickie of Jacksonville, Florida; granddaughter, Angelia Patterson and husband, Bob of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; great-grandchildren, Aaron Lindsey of Corryton, Tennessee and Jessica Patterson of Flint, Michigan; sister, Crienna Boatwright of Birmingham, Alabama; several nieces and nephews.
Service
Funeral services will be held 2 PM on Sunday in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Rev. David Abernathy and Rev. Charlie McNutt officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM on Saturday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
