Spence, Tilda Emma Knight, age 92, of Knoxville, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Thursday, June 25, 2009. Emma was born and raised in Pittman Center, and was an avid genealogist and member of First Families of Tennessee. She was an active member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church and was very thankful for the love of all who visited and prayed for her when she became homebound. She served over 6000 hours volunteering at UT Medical Center Gift Shop always glad to see her many hospital friends visit when she became ill. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Dot Burl “DB” Spence; parents, Lee and Nancy (Ogle) Knight; sisters: Mary Parrott, Lillie Knight, Bibbie Knight; brothers: Len, Crockett, Rex, and Arthur “Tock” Knight; sons-in-law: Gene Smelcer and Don Holland; grandsons: Kenneth Holland and Mack French.
