Christopher, Jr., John Marshall, age 84, of Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at UT Hospital. He was born in Sevierville and graduated from Sevier County High School in 1940. He attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and briefly worked in Alcoa before serving in the US Air Force from 1944 until 1946. He was owner and operator of United Shoe Repair where he mended shoes and befriended many in the community for more than 40 years. He was a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church for 58 years where he held various roles such as Deacon, Church Clerk, and Sunday School teacher. He was preceded in death by parents, John and Annie Romines Christopher; brother, Clarence Christopher and wife Irene; sisters, Dorothy Newman and Lois Christopher. Survivors Wife of 62 years, Vanita Shanks Christopher; daughter, Janice Christopher McCoy and husband Mack of Nashville; granddaughter, Heather McCoy of Nashville, TN; grandson, Ryan McCoy of Murfreesboro, TN; sister, Mildred Cantrell of Rocky Face, GA; brother, A.H. Christopher and wife Lois of Gatlinburg, TN. Memorials may be made to the Sevier Heights Baptist Church Building Fund, 3232 Alcoa Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920. Service Funeral service Saturday, 3:00 PM, Berry Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Charlie McNutt officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of his Sunday School class. Family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM Saturday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
