SHARP, RAYMOND C. age 81 of Knoxville passed away Sunday January 30, 2011 at 9:31 P.M. at St. Mary's Select Specialty Hospital. He was a member of North Lonsdale Church of God for many years and served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and Trustee. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, a Knox County School bus contractor and driver for 44 years. He also worked for Cherokee Textile Mills for 21 years and a security guard for Shannondale Retirement Home. Preceded in death by his parents Clayton and Lucy Sharp; his precious son Edward R. " Eddie " Sharp (March 15, 2010); and 2 infant sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Doris whom he affectionately called Mama; 1 daughter Patricia Burrage and son in law Donald; 2 grandchildren Joshua Burrage and Amy Elizabeth White; 1 great grandchild Olivia Grace White all of Bessemer, Alabama; sisters Faye Dean and husband Luther, Jan Ellison, Roberta Tatum and their children; brother and sister in law Robert and Barbara Sharp; nieces Michelle and Christy and nephew Robert Sharp Jr.; precious aunt Pearl Cox. A special thank you to St. Mary's Specialty Select Nurses and Staff who were so comforting and caring for Raymond and Mama and also thanks to a very caring and helpful neighbor through our trying time Robert and Nancy Hartsock. Funeral service 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with Reverend Frank Sellers and Reverend Dallas Jones officiating. Music by Glenda Miracle. Family and friends will meet at the entrance to Highland Memorial Cemetery Friday at 12:45 P.M. for a 1:00 P.M. interment. Pallbearers Frank Newcomb, David Bailey, Jack Brogdon, Robert Sharp Jr., Eddie Price, Bob Day. Honorary pallbearer Jarvis Bevins. Online condolences may be offered at www.rosemortuary.com. The family will receive friends 5:00- 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.
